On Optimal Chip Equalization for Equal-Power Synchronous CDMA Systems

چکیده
Extensive work has been done on linear chip equalization of CDMA signals. In this paper we show how to apply the optimal chip equalization, which is shown to be part of the symbol Bayesian minimum mean square error estimator, and it is applicable for the downlink of a CDMA system with equal user powers. Although the optimal chip equalizer’s complexity is high, we believe it is worthy to study as a new equalization method for CDMA, which may give a new dimension in the CDMA equalization research, and as a reference to the linear chip equalization. We implemented a suboptimal receiver based on the optimal chip equalization idea which outperforms, as expected, the linear chip equalizer, and also the partial parallel interference canceller at high signal-to-noise ratios, without the explicit knowledge of the users’ spreading codes.

On the Capacity of Cdma Systems
The per-chip capacity of a CDMA communication channel with a varying number of users is calculated. It was assumed that users transmit using BPSK modulation and that the receiver achieves chip-synchronous decoding; therefore inter-symbol interference was ignored. In such a channel, CDMA is characterized by its chipwise operation, which can be accurately modeled as an additive channel. The perch...

متن کاملOptimal sequences and sum capacity of synchronous CDMA systems
The sum capacity of a multiuser synchronous CDMA system is completely characterized in the general case of asymmetric user power constraints this solves the open problem posed in [7] which had solved the equal power constraint case. We identify the signature sequences with real components that achieve sum capacity and indicate a simple recursive algorithm to construct them.

The sum capacity on a symbol-synchronous CDMA system having processing gain N and supporting K power constrained users is achieved by employing at most 2N 1 sequences. Analogously, the minimum received power (energy-per-chip) on the symbol-synchronous CDMA system supporting K users that demand specified data rates is attained by employing at most 2N 1 sequences. If there are L oversized users i...
متن کاملTwo-stage detection of partitioned random CDMA
Random Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) with low complexity two-stage joint detection/decoding is considered. A sequence partitioning approach is used for modulation, where every spreading sequence is divided intoM sections (partitions) which are interleaved prior to transmission. This setup, called partitioned CDMA, can be understood as a generalisation of (chip) interleave division multip...
